What happens to the information in your resume

The short version, in plain words, before you sign up. Checked against how the service actually works on October 17, 2026.

The short answers
Who receives my resume information? Two AI providers, Anthropic and Cerebras, when you generate a document, import a resume or use the AI features. We do not send it to anyone else.
What exactly is sent? Depending on the feature: your name, email, phone and links, headline and summary, work history, skills, education, certifications and interests; the job posting you pasted; and the text of any file or paste you import. Not sent: your password, your payment details and your profile photo.
Do they train their models on it? Not under the terms that apply to our accounts. Anthropic says it does not train on inputs or outputs from its API by default, and Cerebras says it does not use customer content to train models. Sources are listed below.
How long do they keep it? Anthropic says it automatically deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, with exceptions for content its safety systems flag and for legal requirements. Cerebras says it does not retain the inputs and outputs of its inference service.
Where is it processed? Our own servers are in Canada. The AI providers may process data in the United States and elsewhere, so your text can leave Canada when you generate a document.
Can I delete it? Yes. Delete your account in Settings and your profile, resumes, cover letters and job postings are removed from our live systems immediately. Below: what we keep, and for how long.

The AI providers

Writing and checking documents is done by AI models run by two companies. We send them only what the feature needs: the relevant parts of your profile and the job posting. We do not send them your password, your payment details or your photo.

Training. Anthropic’s privacy centre says: “By default, we will not use your inputs or outputs from our commercial products (e.g. Claude for Work, Anthropic API, Claude Gov, etc.) to train our models.” Cerebras’s terms state that the permission customers give it to handle their content “does not grant Cerebras the right to use Service Content for the purpose of training or fine-tuning models.”

Retention. Anthropic says that for API customers it automatically deletes inputs and outputs from its backend within 30 days, except where the customer has agreed otherwise, where it needs to keep them to enforce its usage policy (up to two years for content its automated safety systems flag), or where the law requires. Cerebras says it does not retain inputs and outputs from its inference service, and keeps only account details and usage metrics.

Location. Cerebras’s privacy policy says your data “may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries outside the United States.” Anthropic runs requests in whichever region is available by default, and offers US-only processing as an option.

The limits of this summary. These are the providers’ own published statements, and they can change. Cerebras’s policy pages were last updated in August 2024. If something here matters for your situation, read the sources below, and leave out of your profile anything you would not want an AI provider to see.

Deleting your information

  • Immediately: when you delete your account, your profile, work history, skills, education, certifications, interests, job postings, resumes and cover letters are removed from our live systems, your profile photo is deleted, we cancel any active subscription, and every device is signed out. There is no grace period.
  • Within 8 days: we make an encrypted backup every night and delete each one once it is more than 7 days old, so deleted data ages out of the nightly backups within 8 days.
  • What we keep on purpose: payment and refund records, which we need for accounting and are kept as long as the law requires; and anonymous AI usage records (which model ran, how many tokens, what it cost) with no resume text and, once your account is gone, no link to you.
  • Server logs record IP addresses and browser types for security. They are rotated daily and kept for about two weeks.
  • At the AI providers: as described above. We cannot delete from their systems earlier than they do.

Files you upload

When you import a resume, the file is read in memory, the details are extracted, and you review them before anything is saved to your profile. We do not keep the file. For older Word, OpenDocument and RTF files, a temporary copy is written to a private temporary folder so it can be converted, and it is deleted straight afterwards.

Security and tracking

Connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Card details go straight to our payment processor, Stripe, and never touch our servers. We measure traffic with a self-hosted analytics tool that sets no cookies and never records the content of your documents; the full list of what we collect is in the Privacy Policy.

What you can do

  • Leave out what a resume does not need. Social insurance numbers, dates of birth and ID numbers never belong on a resume, and nothing here asks for them.
  • See and change what we hold. Everything in your profile is visible and editable in the app.
  • Ask us. For a copy of your data, a correction or a deletion we cannot do from Settings, write to privacy@myresumerobot.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

This page summarizes our Privacy Policy; it does not replace it.
