One profile, two focused resumes
Jamie Rowan is made up, and so are the employers. What follows is real output from My Resume Robot’s writers, shown unedited, with notes on what changed and what Jamie still has to check.
How this was made. On October 15, 2026 we ran My Resume Robot’s own resume writer, cover-letter writer and fact-check pass on the fictional profile and postings below, then laid the resumes out with the app’s own Minimal template. We did not edit the wording. Two things differ from a normal run: it was run directly rather than through a customer account, and the step that reads the job posting used a different AI model from the live app’s. The PDFs come from the app’s export code; the versions on this page are the same text in this site’s styling.
No real person or employer is described. Any resemblance is a coincidence.
1. The starting point
This is everything Jamie typed into the profile, once. It spans three unrelated kinds of work, which is exactly what makes one catch-all resume a poor fit for any single job. Note what is not here: Jamie has never used Procore or Microsoft Project, and has no experience with a volunteer database.

What changed from the profile
- The summary now leads with what this posting asks for: hands-on residential renovation and trades coordination. It also names Working at Heights, because the posting lists it as a requirement.
- The skills were reworded and reordered around the posting: project scheduling, trades coordination and residential renovation come first.
- The numbers did not move. Every figure on the page (about 120 projects, up to 8 at once, 3 to 5 subcontractors, 15 to 25 deliveries a day, complaints falling from about 6 a month to 1 or 2, 4 staff trained) comes straight from the profile.
- The order of jobs changed. The draft put Rowan Renovations, the most relevant job, above the current one. That is a choice to check: many recruiters expect the newest job first.
4. “Check before you send”
Next to every resume the app lists what the posting wants that Jamie’s profile does not mention. They are questions, not claims. Jamie decides whether any are true, adds them to the profile and regenerates. If the answer is no, the app offers honest wording that expresses interest without claiming experience. Notice what is missing from the resume above: Procore and Microsoft Project.
Check before you send (4)
The posting lists Procore and Microsoft Project as assets. These are common tools in residential construction project coordination and could strengthen your application.
Question for Jamie: Have you used Procore, Microsoft Project, or any other project management software — at Lakeshore Building Supply, during Rowan Renovations, or anywhere else? If yes, add it to the relevant role and regenerate.
If the answer is no: “Keen to learn Procore and Microsoft Project in a residential construction setting.”
The role includes tracking project costs against budget and preparing change-order paperwork and purchase orders. Your data mentions quoting jobs but does not mention budget tracking or change orders.
Question for Jamie: At Rowan Renovations, did you track project costs against a budget or handle change orders with clients? If yes, add a note to that role and regenerate.
The posting requires a valid driver's licence. This is a stated requirement but is not mentioned in your profile.
Question for Jamie: Do you hold a valid Ontario driver's licence? If yes, consider adding it to your profile or a cover letter note — it is a listed requirement.
The role involves tracking permits and inspections with the municipality. Your data does not mention permit or inspection experience.
Question for Jamie: At Rowan Renovations, did you pull building permits or coordinate municipal inspections for any projects? If yes, add it to that role and regenerate.
5. The cover letter
Written in the first person from the same profile and the same posting.
Dear Hiring Team at Harborview Builders Ltd.,
When I read your posting for a Project Coordinator, I recognized the day-to-day reality of the role immediately — keeping trades sequenced, homeowners informed and paperwork complete is work I have been doing in one form or another for over fifteen years. The chance to bring that experience to a team building and renovating family homes across the Sudbury region is genuinely exciting to me.
The core of what you are looking for maps closely to my background in residential renovation. Running Rowan Renovations for eleven years, I quoted jobs, kept up to eight projects scheduled at once and coordinated three to five subcontractors per project — electrical, plumbing and drywall — managing sequencing and hand-offs across trades throughout. I completed approximately 120 projects over that period, working from construction drawings at every phase. I understand how a delay from one trade ripples into the next, and I know how to have the conversation that gets things back on track. I also hold my Working at Heights certification, so that requirement is already in place.
Since moving into my Operations Coordinator role at Lakeshore Building Supply in 2020, I have kept that scheduling discipline sharp in a higher-volume environment, coordinating 15 to 25 contractor deliveries a day across the yard and counter. When I noticed missed-delivery complaints were running around six a month, I started a next-day confirmation call for large orders; complaints fell to one or two a month. That kind of straightforward fix — spot the friction, close the gap before it becomes a problem — is how I approach homeowner communication too. Keeping people informed early is almost always easier than managing frustration after the fact. I have also trained four new counter staff, so bringing someone up to speed on procedures and expectations is familiar ground.
I would welcome the opportunity to talk about how my renovation background and current coordination work could contribute to Harborview Builders' projects. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Jamie Rowan

Check before you send (4)
The posting lists a volunteer or donor database (CRM) as an asset — this is something Cedar Ridge will look for and it is not in your profile.
Question for Jamie: At Northshore Community Pantry or Lakeshore Building Supply, did you use any software to track volunteers, donors, contacts or orders beyond spreadsheets — for example, a CRM, a volunteer management platform, or a point-of-sale system? If yes, add the tool name to the relevant role and regenerate.
If the answer is no: “Keen to learn a volunteer or donor database system to support accurate record-keeping and reporting.”
The posting asks for experience keeping volunteer records and reporting hours and activity to a director — the profile does not mention record-keeping or reporting at the pantry.
Question for Jamie: At Northshore Community Pantry, did you keep any records of volunteer hours, attendance or activity, or produce any reports for pantry leadership? If yes, add that detail to the pantry role and regenerate.
The role involves recruiting new volunteers, not only scheduling existing ones — the profile does not mention recruitment.
Question for Jamie: At Northshore Community Pantry, did you do anything to bring in new volunteers — for example, posting on social media, reaching out to schools or community groups, or running an orientation? If yes, add it to the pantry role and regenerate.
If the answer is no: “Eager to take on volunteer recruitment and orientation as a new responsibility.”
The posting mentions a Vulnerable Sector Check. The profile does not note whether one is already held.
Question for Jamie: Do you currently hold a valid Vulnerable Sector Check? If yes, you may want to note 'Vulnerable Sector Check — current' in your certifications so Cedar Ridge sees it immediately.
7. Lines we would still double-check
The app’s fact-check pass read all three documents against Jamie’s profile and changed nothing. We read them too, and a few sentences still go a little beyond what the profile says. This is what a careful read looks like, and why “check before you send” exists.
- Resume 1:
Read and worked from construction drawings throughout all project phases.
The profile lists reading construction drawings as a skill, but says nothing about every project phase. The letter repeats it:working from construction drawings at every phase
. - Letter:
keeping trades sequenced, homeowners informed and paperwork complete
is described as work Jamie has done for over fifteen years. The profile never mentions paperwork; that phrase echoes the posting. - Letter:
a higher-volume environment
compares the supplier job with the renovation business. The profile gives the numbers but never makes that comparison. - Resume 2:
willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check
. The profile says nothing about this; the wording comes from the posting. Jamie may well be willing, but only Jamie can say so. - Resume 2:
Holds current First Aid/CPR-C, WHMIS, and Working at Heights certifications
. The profile gives issue dates only. “Current” is an assumption, and certificates expire.
A fair summary: the numbers match the profile and the drafts are specific and usable, but a few sentences outrun the record. Read every line, ask “can I explain this in an interview?”, and change anything that is not true.
